Apart from the natural wonders, you may also come across ancient wrecked ships. Ilha Grande bay was the scene of several battles between pirates and imperial corsairs between the 16th and the 19th centuries, and many galleons wrecked there as a result. That is why the bay concentrates one of the highest numbers of shipwrecks in the world.

Fishing
Amateur fishing with hook and line is allowed by the Brazilian Institute of Environment (IBAMA). The use of trammel nets is allowed in professional fishing only.
